Tissue Functions Applications
Bone supports the body, protects vital organs facial reconstruction, limb salvage, correction of birth defects, cancer treatments, spinal and oral surgery

Eyes

(cornea) clear front portion which allows light to enter

(sclera) white outer coating of the eye

used to implant glaucoma filters;as temporary prosthetic or facial reconstruction
Fascia fibrous tissue that covers the muscles used to repair tendons, ligaments, deformities
Heart Valves directs flow of blood through the heart used to replace congenital valve defects or diseased heart valves
Ligaments strengthen bone joints for use in joint injuries
Pericardium membranous bag that surrounds the heart used for patch grafts in cardiac procedures (especially in children)
Skin protects the body against dehydration, injury and infection used as a temporary covering for burn patients, decreases pain, infection, scarring, heat loss, fluid loss
